Returning from the Easter break, Shepparton South will welcome Tatura to McEwen Reserve on Sunday in the League One men’s competition, with both sides yet to concede a goal this season.
Tatura currently sits on top of the table with two wins and a positive goal difference of 26, while South sits in second, also with two wins but a plus-20 goal difference.
But Tatura coach Tristan Zito said he did not think the game would be season-defining.
“We’ve obviously got to play them again and there is still another four or five teams that are really strong that’ll be contending as well,” Zito said.
“Three points is obviously really important at this stage and we’ll be trying to get all three.”
Zito said everyone in the squad was fit and ready to go, with the coach himself the only player currently touch-and-go.
“The boys are all pumped for it, we know they’re going to be a top side and we’re keen to test ourselves so we’re confident going into it that if we play well enough we’ll be up to it,” he said.
Sunday’s game between Shepparton South and Tatura will kick off at McEwen Reserve at 3pm.
Meanwhile Shepparton United will be on the road on Saturday, taking on Epsom at 5pm in Epsom.
United, currently in third spot after two convincing wins, will be hoping to take home all three points from the game, with a win allowing them to leapfrog either Tatura or Shepparton South on the ladder.
- In League One women’s action, Shepparton United will be travelling to Stanley Avenue on Sunday to take on Spring Gully United.
This contest is set to be a close one, with both sides sitting on one win entering round three.
In League Two it’s a similar situation, with Tatura playing host to La Trobe University.
This game will be held at McEwen Reserve at 3pm on Sunday alongside the men’s game in what is sure to be an unmissable feast of Goulburn Valley soccer for supporters.
