The Roos travel to Lavington this Saturday who are in fourth position on the same (61) points.
Then it’s currently second placed North Albury at Ball Park and round 18 against bottom side Baranduda, also at home.
Corowa’s side for this Saturday will have to put in a big effort as unavailability and injuries are hurting at present. And there’s Australian and world great Steve Waugh coming to Ball Park Saturday evening.
C2 travelled to Baranduda to take on Baranduda White who were out for redemption after their 10 wicket loss in round 1 this season. With the conditions and pitch being questionable due to the rain the olive branch was extended by the Corowa team to split the points and move on but the Baranduda team, hungry to play finals, thought they were a chance at victory so the teams played out a 30 over game.
Corowa made 4/193 from their 30 overs with Mick Drew once again finishing undefeated on 72, taking his record after their Xmas bye to 178 runs without being dismissed. Doug Lavis finally got some time in the middle with the bat making 59* off 27 balls in a dominant display which would worry opposition heading into finals. Nathan Rhodes also continued his good form with a well made 36.
Baranduda chasing 194 for victory were never in the hunt after losing Daniel Hussey for 5 in the 4th over. Doug Lavis was the standout performer for the day collecting 4/23 from his 6 overs to go with his quick fire half century.
The C2 team now turns their attention to Lavington with a win this week all but securing a top 2 finish which would be excellent.
Special thanks to Kobe Raggett, Archie Rhodes and Jacko Barber for helping get a team together. The club is in great hands with such keen and talented juniors coming through the ranks.
Three other games were called off due to the weather – the Under 16s, Under 12s Div 1 and Under 12s Div 2.
