The boys were ready to leave it all on the field at Sunday’s game.
However, it was the CSU boys opened the scoring after some tough fought sets didn’t go the Cougars way.
An injury saw an early half time called. The boys took that time to regroup and set into motion the game they came to play.
Hard runs from the forwards seen momentum build and points go up on the board. It came down to the last minute with the boys holding the lead by 2 points. Pace off the line saw the boys hold CSU back.
With 18 seconds to go, the boys kept pushing the attack back.
The boys will have next week off to train and re focus before they head into the grand final at Glenrowan August 27
Reflecting on the season, coach Daniel Webb said he was extremely proud of not only his team’s efforts but the entire club.
“It’s been a huge year for the club in the community. We have grown more prominent in our community spectrum with many new faces joining as players, members and supporters,” he said.
“We have taken new approaches to the aspect of being a club and refreshed many of our old values and morals that gave the Corowa Cougar’s their identity.
“Beyond the footy side of our season, our club’s compassion, atmosphere and dedication has grown.
“Brendo’s boot lead the boys”- Brenden Johnson converts a goal for the Cougars.
“Our men’s and women’s teams have strived for greatness together. We’ve taken our wins and losses as an entire club, and we have rediscovered our identity of family.
“Though our women’s team still have one week until they are confirmed to play alongside the men at the grand final, we as a family have no doubt we will be playing at the big dance together.”
