The 19-run result comes after the reigning premier also lost its round three clash to Rochester a week prior.
Cooma batted on its home turf first, with wicketkeeper Jacob Kelly piloting the innings with an admirable half-century.
Opener Liam Scopelliti helped the team progress early, adding 41 runs to Cooma’s total, though Kyabram Fire Brigade, led by Rob Salter (5-27), arguably did a solid job keeping Cooma to 163.
But the visitors didn’t follow through with the bat, with the pressure put on lower-order batters such as Tristan Watson (36 not out) to get the job done.
Opening pair Daniel Kent (23 runs) and Bohden Learmonth (17) failed to make a mark, while Jake Gascoyne went for the duck as Cooma claimed the first three wickets before Kyabram reached 50.
With Brad Power (3-12), Ben Napier (2-9) and Ethan Palma-Ludeman (2-37) working hard in attack, Cooma had Kyabram on the brink at 9-89.
Hanging by a thread for one wicket remaining, Watson and Tom Owen (21 not out) desperately tried to push for a Kyabram win, before running out of deliveries at 9-144.
Player of the match
Cooma’s Jacob Kelly’s half-century was the cornerstone of his side’s innings. While teammate Liam Scopelliti’s made quicker work of Kyabram’s deliveries, Kelly’s efforts kept Cooma at the crease well into the 45 overs.
Doubling as wicketkeeper, Kelly was kept on his toes for the remainder of the day and found the edge off two of Kyabram’s top-order batters.
