Halle Duffy, 12, of Shepparton, had a sleep-over with her Nan recently to ensure she would be ready for the start of the Cobram parkrun at 8am on Saturday, January 25.
Halle’s Nan, Cobram’s Mary Johnson, was on duty as a parkrun volunteer when Halle took off on the five kilometre course, with more than 100 participants, including several runners of a similar age.
Every Saturday at parkrun events round the country, participants either run, walk, jog or volunteer at the free event, joining friends and family, or making new friends in a healthy environment.
This is not the first time Halle has participated in Cobram, but regularly takes part closer to home in Shepparton at Victoria Park Lake, which was awarded the city’s Community Event for 2025 at its Australia Day celebrations last week.
A keen netballer, Halle plays centre and wing attack for Shepparton Swans under-13s in the Shepparton Netball Association.
She also enjoys running and finds parkrun assists her preparation for the upcoming netball season.
