The Victorian Government’s Sporting Club Grants Program opened up entries on Friday, September 6, with organisations around the state encouraged to apply under any of four different revenue streams.
Grants are available for playing uniforms and related equipment, up to a maximum value of $1000.
The same amount is available for grants related to implementations designed to improve a club’s accessibility and engagement, or alternatively, up to $4000 for the advent of a modified competition to foster inclusion.
Clubs can pocket up to $750 in order to help cover the costs of travel, accommodation and related factors for away-game or competition travel.
The single largest stream by far offers a high of $5000 for coaches and volunteers to undertake programs, training and general initiatives related to upskilling and retention.
State Member for Shepparton Kim O’Keeffe has urged clubs in the Goulburn Valley to jump on board and apply for some valuable funding.
“Our sporting clubs are such a big part of our communities. They bring people together, keep us active, and provide opportunities for people of all ages to get involved,” Ms O'Keeffe said.
“This funding can go a long way in making things easier for clubs to run smoothly and get more people involved.
“I encourage all sporting clubs to apply and take advantage of this opportunity.”
There are certain clauses, with clubs who pocketed grants in the uniforms and equipment, volunteer and coach training or accessibility streams unable to apply for the same categories they were awarded last year.
Any club assigned a total of $6000 or more overall in the travel and accommodation stream through the 2023-24 program cannot apply in that category this year.
Clubs are permitted to make up to 10 applications, with a maximum of eight allowed in the travel and accommodation stream — but clubs may not apply for both the uniforms and accessibility streams, and can only apply for one of the two.
Applications remain open until 4pm on Friday, October 11, and can be completed on the Victorian Department of Sport website.
