In the women’s draw, the semi-finals saw two matches that featured a showdown of experience versus youth.
On the day, the fresh legs of Miley Morris and Rebekah Lawson shone through to make their way through to the final, defeating Susie Bennett and Abby Prycroft respectively.
This set up the women’s final in what was a battle of Morris’ brute power versus Lawson’s extreme consistency the varying styles of play led to an enthralling match.
In what was a close fought battle, Lawson managed to just outlast her opponent to secure a 6-4 victory and her first ever club championship in her first season of senior tennis at the club.
The honour capped off a tremendous season for Lawson, who has now claimed a premiership medal, club best and fairest and club championship all in the one season, a feat that will be hard to top by any tennis member in the years to come.
On the men’s side of the draw, the semi-finals match ups saw players from all three divisions being represented.
In the first match-up, Mitchell Cox took on Ben Dickens.
Cox got out to a strong lead early, breaking Dickens in his second service game to take a 4-1 lead.
This was the difference as the rest of the match stayed on serve for Cox to secure a 6-3 win against his younger opponent.
The other semi-final was between two first time senior players at Kyabram Lawn Tennis Club, Kade Starling and Evan Cooknell.
In what was a titanic battle and was arguably the match of the day, the two went back and forth with the momentum of the match, which featured some of the longest rallies that needed to be seen to be believed.
In the end it was Cooknell that had the momentum at the right time, breaking Starling at the end of the set to secure a 7-5 triumph.

This set up the final between Cooknell and Cox.
Despite his marathon semi-final match, Cooknell started the set hot, breaking Cox in his first service game and consolidating his break to go 3-0 up.
However, Cox was able to wrestle the momentum back to hold serve and then break to get back to 3-3.
In what was a cagey encounter, the two managed to hold serve the rest of the way which led to the final being decided in the tiebreaker.
Possibly due to the shorter semi-final, Cox was able to take control of the breaker and finished on top to win his first ever club championship final.
Lawson and Cox’s names will now be placed on the honour board in the Kyabram Lawn Tennis Clubhouse for their achievements.
