The Change Our Game initiative is aimed at making local sport more accessible and increasing participation rates across northern Victoria.
The grants are available to sporting clubs and organisations to help offer programs that encourage women and girls of all backgrounds to get involved with sport and become leaders within the sport.
Grants of up to $10,000 are available to sporting clubs and organisations that apply from now until 5pm on March 4.
Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes believes the grants are an excellent opportunity for sporting clubs and organisations to help women and girls build their skills and knowledge in sport.
“The Change Our Game Community Activation Grants program is a fantastic opportunity for our community sport and active recreation clubs to showcase the important roles women and girls play and deserve,” she said.
“I encourage all eligible organisations to consider applying.”
The Change Our Game program is in its seventh year and has provided 461 grants to clubs and organisations across Victoria, totalling $2.2 million.
Since 2016, the Victorian Government has invested $18.8 million into the Office for Women in Sport and Recreation (the first office of its kind in Australia).
Community Sport Minister Ros Spence believes these grants are a continued step in the right direction for growing sports inclusiveness across the state.
“This program is a fantastic opportunity for community sport and recreation clubs to take a positive steps towards making community sport more accessible and inclusive for everyone,” she said.
Applications for this program close at 5pm Monday, March 4. For more information about Change Our Game programs, visit changeourgame.vic.gov.au
