Conway Bovell and Andrew Holloway had previously beaten Simon Chisholm and Graham Nisbet in one semi-final of the pairs, while Chris and Terry Taylor were just too good for Steve O’Brien and Craig Murray in the other.
This set the scene for a very close grand final, and those in attendance were not disappointed as they witnessed a very tight contest.
The Taylors got out to a six shot lead after seven ends. Bovell and Holloway slowly made up ground, although they still trailed by two shots with only two ends to play.
They then claimed a two on the penultimate end, and then a single on the last, to snatch the victory by the barest of margins, 11 shots to 10.
The low score after 15 ends was indicative of how tight the match was, with the highest score on any end during the contest being a two.
The B-grade Singles final saw Craig Hillier opposed to Keith Hay, after Hillier had beaten Tom Todd in his semi-final while Hay had advanced by getting the better of Mark Law.
Hillier took control early in this match, and held sway till the end to become the champion.
