The modern record mark and possibly the all-time recod was set at 831 runs by Central Park-St Brendan’s star Sam Ahmet in the 2006-07 season.
Other fruitful seasons with the bat in the same competition in the modern era were enjoyed by Mooroopna’s Brad Lowe with 751 and Central Park-St Brendan’s champion Rohan Larkin (749).
Mueller made 600 runs prior to the festive break and didn’t bat when the season resumed on January 8 due to commitments with the victorious Victorian side at the National Country Cricket Championships.
With a general bye in the competition over the holiday weekend and Kyabram having a bye in the round starting this Saturday, Mueller may have only two more chances to edge pass Ahmet’s record in the final two two-day home and away games.
Kyabram’s last two games – against non-finalist Old Students and ladder leader Central Park-St Brendan’s could provide the chance for Mueller to bat four times although unlikely.
He will need to score at least a combined 232 runs in those two games to relieve Ahmet of his record.

One of John and his late wife Margaret’s four children Peter was a talented footballer who played with Kyabram earlyin his career before making a name for himself in the Mt Isa competition in far north west Queensland.
John’s funeral was held in Melbourne and his ashes will be interred at Kyabram Cemetery.
Some former star GVL players and netballers have also passed recently.
Shepparton United lost former big man Gary Burgmann who played in the late 1960s and 1970s with the Demons and the Shepparton Swans and the GVL netball scene lost one of its champion players from early days in the competition in Debbie Atkinson.

One of the players who helped bring down hot favourite Kyabram in the 2018 Goulburn Valley League premiership battle is kicking on.
Big man Harry Boyd last week was added to St Kilda’s supplementary list after a stellar season last year with South Australian club Norwood in which he shared the league’s Margery Medal with former Essendon midfielder Will Snelling.
It is believed St Kilda snapped up Boyd, a former Murray Bushranger who played in Norwood’s 2023 premiership side, to be a back up for its gun big man Rowan Marshall.
