Midweek and weekend pennants are back for another summer season, with Rochester and Lockington sides in various divisions to take to the greens.

Lockington will not be represented in the division one or two competitions of the Campaspe Playing Area, but Rochester will return for another season.
Rochester’s division one side finished seventh on the ladder last year with a record of 5-8-1, with only score difference separating it from sixth-placed Rich River.
It will look to make a push for the finals series this season.
Rochester’s highest-ranked division one player was Robert Clayton, who was 32nd in the division one competition last season.
Rochester will face Mathoura in the opening round of division one weekend pennant at Rochester Bowls Club.
Lockington will be represented in division three of the Campaspe Playing Area, where it will face Rich River in the opening round at Rich River Bowls Club.
Lockington finished eighth in division three last year with a record of 5-9, just in front of Rochester, who finished 4-9.
John Fisher was Lockington’s highest-ranked player in the third division by season’s end, placed 38th.
Rochester also has teams in divisions two, three and five, while Lockington has teams in divisions four and five as well.
All divisions will begin the weekend pennant season this Saturday, October 12.
In midweek pennant, Rochester will again compete in division one in the Campaspe Playing Area.
Last season, Rochester finished fifth out of six on the ladder with a record of 7-6-1, narrowly missing finals to Mathoura, who had a better score difference.
Heather Curnick was Rochester’s highest-ranked player in division one, placing 34th, with fellow Rochester players Jane McCallum and Kevin Hall placing in the two spots below.
After last season’s heartbreak, Rochester’s division one side will have its eyes set on a finals appearance this summer.
Like in weekend pennant, Lockington will not field sides in division one or two of the midweek competition but will feature in divisions three and four.
Lockington finished seventh out of 12 teams last season in division three with a record of 6-7 and will need to work hard to push into the finals.
Kathy Maddison was ranked as Lockington’s best player, sitting in 38th at the end of the 2023-24 season.
Lockington will also have representation in division four, while Rochester will feature in divisions three and four as well.
Midweek pennant kicks off on Tuesday, October 15.
Rochester Bowls Club’s barefoot bowls will also be kicking off this week. It will be played every Friday at 6pm from October 11.
All ages are encouraged to take part. Cost is $10 to enter or $5 for children under 12. Food is included in the entry fee.
