After weeks where wet weather has hampered play, the Campaspe Tennis Association junior competition finally got under way last weekend.

Teams from Rochester, Echuca, Lockington-Bamawm United, Elmore and Rich River all hit the court on Saturday for the first time this season after the opening five rounds were washed out.
In Division A, Echuca 8 started the season off with a bang thanks to a strong 47-games-to-14 victory over clubmates Echuca 10.
Echuca 8 won seven of the eight rubbers, with Jack Byrne and Archer Weeks both earning impressive 6-0 wins in their singles games.

In the second all-Echuca encounter, Echuca 11 earned bragging rights over Echuca 9 with a narrow 37-34 win.
Echuca 9’s William Whitbourn had a 6-0 win in his singles match, while Abbey Stobaus earned a nice 6-1 win for Echuca 8.
The match came down to the final doubles rubber, and although Echuca 9 won the set 6-4, it wasn’t enough to stop Echuca 11 from holding on for victory.

Elsehwere, Rochester 3 started off the season with a 41-games-to-30 win over Rich River 2.
The two sides were tied on four rubbers apiece, but a great day from Tobie Woodfine helped propel Rochester to victory.
Woodfine won his singles rubber 6-0, as well as his two doubles matches with Harrison Foster and Ray Pearson 6-1 and 6-3, respectively.

In the fourth match-up of the day, LBU 3 got its season off to a winning start with a 40-25 triumph over Elmore 2.
LBU’s James Brentnall got things off to a good start with a 6-0 singles win, with Elmore’s Leo Hayes winning by the same scoreline in his singles rubber.
LBU was too strong overall though, winning six of the eight sets in total.

In Division B, Elmore 6, Elmore 5, Echuca 13, Elmore 3 and Elmore 4 all earned opening round wins, while LBU 6 and Rochester 4 played out a draw.
In Division C, Rochester 5, LBU 7, Rich River 3, Echuca 18 and Elmore 7 were all victorious.
