They had a few new faces in their C-grade team.
However, both sides knew a game of cricket can go in any direction at any time.
Tocumwal lost the toss and were sent in to bat.
In the blink of an eye, Tocumwal were 2/0 in the first over.
Declan Cameron and Aaron Shepherd tried to steady the ship before Cameron fell for 4 leaving Tocumwal 3/15 off 10 overs.
Shepherd and Lachlan McDonald were tasked with rebuilding and did just that, getting Tocumwal through to drinks at 3/30.
The Nathalia bowlers were proving hard to get away and making the batsmen work for their runs.
Shepherd finally went out for a great knock of 42 while on one leg.
With the score then 4/87 and a solid 72 run partnership on the books, McDonald looked to continue Shepherd’s efforts and get Tocumwal to a respectable total.
Tocumwal ended up posting a total of 8/115 with McDonald finishing short of his 50 at 46 not out.
With the score in the book, Tocumwal took to the field and needed to be on their game from the first ball.
Declan Cameron and Joey Barker started Tocumwal off with the ball and bowled well without luck.
Lachie McDonald and Cooper Mangion came on, bowling tight lines for no reward.
This was the story of our day, with Nathalia getting on top of Tocumwal again.
Tocumwal finally got their breakthrough through Kurt Chouffot, with a near double bouncer and a screamer from McDonald.
Then Seth Lawrence picked up a caught and bowled a couple of overs later.
This would be the last wicket Tocumwal took.
Nathalia scored the winning runs in the 27th over, to win by eight wickets.
This brings an end to Tocumwal’s C-grade’s season.
Tocumwal hold their heads high, knowing they played their true team each week and gave it their all.
A big thank you to everyone who has helped along the way.
