Shepparton will be bolstered by a big returning name in 2023 as the side looks to claw its way up the ladder.
Former Bear Kim Borger will be back in Shepparton’s lineup this season, with the former Melbourne Vixen returning from five years in the UK’s Netball Super League with Team Bath.
The goaler will bring plenty of class and experience to a Bears side looking to build on a sixth-place finish last season.
Shepparton battled its way into the post-season but was knocked out by Shepparton United in an elimination final.
Club legend Tracey Brereton will coach the Bears once again in 2023 for what will be her 16th year in charge.
Brereton said there would be a good mix of senior players and young up-and-comers on the court this year.
“In seniors we have been lucky enough to get back some really experienced players across all grades,” Brereton said.
“Eliza Bicknell will be coming up from B-grade to join us. She is an exciting young prospect that has already had a taste of A-grade, so we think she's going to be a nice fit in there.”
Brereton said she was expecting her team’s depth and diverse skillset would be among its biggest strengths this season.
“My philosophy as a coach is that players need to try and learn and be as good at as many things as they can so when we need it, we just use it,” she said.
“I'm hoping we'll be having some good variety and good options.”
