Meanwhile, Kyabram P-12 College’s primary and senior secondary team represented the school, district and region at the bowls state championships in Sunbury.
The primary team is the state champion for the second consecutive year.
Half the team was made up of relatively new bowlers as they were successful at the State Final of the Sporting Schools Victoria Primary Division Lawn Bowls.
The championships were a round-robin format that was played on grass and undercover surfaces as Kyabram P-12 finished the top of their section to make the final.
They went up against Epping Primary School in the grand final, as it came down to their final two bowls to take the title 8-7.
Coaches David Cartwright and Darren Boswood helped lead the team as well as being bolstered from a large contingent of supporters who made the trip.
The group has had a long road to the final, beginning training in February at Kyabram and throughout the Goulburn Valley.
In March they played in the district event at Rochester, winning that event and then proceeded on to the Regional Finals Swan Hill where they won the right to play in the state finals.
