Echuca Moama Border Raiders continue to demonstrate their championship resilience, holding off Kyneton District in round six of the Bendigo Amateur Soccer League 2.
The two sides entered the contest level, part of a group of teams on nine points, although the Border Raiders had a game in-hand courtesy of an early season bye.
It was a first-half goal from the Border Raiders that set the tone for the contest at Epsom Huntly Recreation Reserve, with Kyneton becoming ever more desperate to level the ledger as the game wore on.
In the end, the Border Raiders maintained their clean sheet winning 1-0 and logging a fourth win of the year.
Isabella Barton made the crucial breakthrough for Echuca Moama, earning her side the win in the nail biting contest.
Border Raiders are now second on the ladder, tied with Golden City White and Strathfieldsaye Colts United which both had wins at the weekend.
Echuca Moama has a game in hand over those two sides, with the group of three chasing Castlemaine Goldfields, which are perfect this season at 5-0.
The Border Raiders’ next match is on Sunday when they face Epsom Scorpions at Jack Eddy Oval.
The Scorpions are currently in sixth place after two wins and three losses.
The Border Raiders men’s side was scheduled to face Deniliquin Wanderers this past Sunday, but the match was postponed.
