To be fair to the Bombers, they have faced two out of the four strongest sides in the competition to start the season and managed to give the contest a fair shake.
The first quarter was slow-going for the Bombers, who managed just five goals in its opening effort, while Tatura notched 14 in the same time.
Kyabram’s attacking production was slightly better in the second period, but by that time, the Bulldogs had darted to a 15-goal lead heading into the major break.
The third term was the Bombers' best stretch of play, limiting Tatura to 13 goals while adding six of their own to the tally, yet the Bulldogs’ advantage ticked over to 22.
By the fourth quarter, the wheels had fallen off for Kyabram, who could only manage three goals to finish its day while Tatura kept the pressure on, goaling 12 times to win by 31 at the full-time siren.
The final score was 20-51.
In an attempt to try out different combinations, five of Kyabram’s nine listed players played multiple positions as the Bombers try to figure out an ideal structure to combat strong teams.
Steph Wild was named as the Bombers’ best for her efforts.
In a brief reprieve for Kyabram, the side will return home in round three to go up against fellow winless side Benalla, where it will have a prime opportunity to get its season under way with a victory.
