There is plenty of excitement in the local rugby league community, with the release of the recent Proten Cup fixture signifying the official return of a Deniliquin men’s team.

The Proten Cup 2025 fixture features six teams - Barellan Rams, Goolgowi Rabbitohs, Hillston Bluebirds, Ivanhoe Roosters, Narrandera Lizards, Rankin Springs Dragons and the Deniliquin Blue Heelers.
The league will feature seven rounds, with each team taking turns to host a round between May 24 and July 12.
Deniliquin will have its team bye in round five on June 28, and will then host round six on July 5.
A league-wide bye will be held on June 7, for the King’s Birthday Long Weekend.
The season will conclude with three weeks of finals starting July 19, consisting of a semi-final, preliminary final and grand final.
Before the home and away season, the Proten Cup Knockout tournament will be held on Saturday, May 10.
The tournament will be held in Barellan.

Round 1: Saturday, May 24, host club Ivanhoe - Deniliquin v Hillston; Barellan v Narrandera; Ivanhoe v Goolgowi; Rankins Springs, bye.
Round 2: Saturday, May 31, host club Barellan - Narrandera v Ivanhoe; Deniliquin v Goolgowi; Barellan v Rankin Springs; Hillston, bye.
Round 3: Saturday, June 14, host club Goolgowi - Barellan v Ivanhoe; Deniliquin v Rankin Springs; Goolgowi v Hillston; Narrandera, bye.
Round 4: Saturday, June 21, host club Narrandera - Rankins Springs v Hillston; Goolgowi v Barellan; Narrandera v Deniliquin; Ivanhoe, bye.
