On Wednesday, the men played par on the Captain’s Course. A-grade: Gary Davies +5, r/u Darren Rowe +4, Kevin Dunn +3. B-grade: Ronny Huy +4, r/u Phillip Tribolet +1 c/b John Bradbur. C-grade: Scott Barber +4, r/u Ray Bailey +3 c/b Glenn McMahon (Corowa GC). D Grade: Ronald Loversidge 0 c/b Lawrence Deering, Spencer Rutherford -1 c/b. Saturday was men’s and women’s stroke event.

On Sunday as well as Club Championships there was a medley stroke.
Highlight of the day was Helen Crilly’s first hole in one, on the Captain’s second.

The second round of the Masters Pennant was played on the old course at Cobram under cold and wet conditions, with preferred lies on the day. Team one Ray Watmore and Stephen Guille lost 4/2; Shane Halloran and Glen Hyde struggled all day to a strong Albury side losing 5/4; John Crilly and Murray Chapman also tried hard but lost two down.
The highlight of the day was the debutante Scotty Barber and experienced Noddy Ireland coming from a three down position to record our first win, one up. The team was excited for Scotty and Noddy as it was Noddy's birthday.
On Friday, the team travelled to Albury to take on Corowa it what was looming as an important game. It didn't get off to the best start when Ray Watmore and Rod had their first loss as a pair in two years. Next up Peter Bolt and John Crilly were in a titanic struggle all day and halved their match. Anthony Clement and Murray Chapman led throughout and had a solid 2/1 win. The last match was Noddy Ireland and Scott Barber who won 2/1, giving Toc a good result, 2½ to 1½.
This week the team travels to Corowa to play Cobram.
Berrigan
Friday's winner was Kura Goldsmith (50-17.5-32.5), r/u Gail Browne (40-7-33) who also won the putting with 14. Ball winners were Neil Graham (34), Spike Salter (34.5) and Jeff Stein (34.5).
Saturday's winner was Steve Senini (44-10-34), r/u Spike Salter (55-20.5-34.5), and Steve Senini won the putting with 15. Ball winner was Joe Nicholls (45-10-35).
Sunday was the Jimmy Wallis Memorial Golf Day and the winners were Al Arnold and Paul McVicor, r/u Lachlan Whelan and Harry Daniel, ball winners Sandy Moar and Dennis Bush, Chris Cameron and Michael Curtin and Neil Graham and Ged Towler.

Jerilderie
Our club was pleased to host the Southern Riverina Veterans golfers on Monday with a field of about 75 men from across the southern Riverina. From all reports, golfers had a great day and the course was in fantastic condition.
Last Wednesday was our hotly contested Ladies Monthly Medal (putts) and medley stroke (putts) round. Winner was Margo Gregory 96/25/71, r/u Gina Simpson 101/29/72. NTP: 7th Margo Gregory, 15th 2nd shot Heather Cameron, Putts Julie Sleigh 28.
Sunday results for medley stableford round were winner Di Rutherford 35 points, r/u John Simpson 34. NTP: 5th Di Rutherford, 10th Ian Taylor, 13th Ian Taylor, 15th Gina Simpson, 16th Luke Keating.
We welcome all golfers to this week’s Wednesday format Medley Stableford.
With the weather warming up, we have seen a few familiar faces re-emerge from the depths of winter and have also welcomed and enjoyed the company of a couple of new lovely ladies at the weekly Wednesday medley golf.
This Sunday will be the annual 2-Person Ambrose Presidents Cup, and we will be welcoming golfers from near and far with more than $2000 up for grabs. Entries are still being taken at jerilderiegolf@bigpond.com and registration on the day will be open from 8.30am with shotgun start at 10am. This will be a fun and enjoyable day and the Jerilderie Sports Club thanks the many Jerilderie landholders for their generous sponsorship of this event.
Our junior golf clinic will start next Monday, October 21 at 5pm.
This is a five week program, of one hour clinics.
It is open to all by primary aged children, and we hope it will be well-supported following the recent Golf NSW program in local primary schools.

Finley
Anne Harding, after countback on 35 points, came in the winner when the women played stableford for trophies from Boomerang Motors on Wednesday.
NTP on the 13th was Sharon Pyle.
Ball competition winners were Karen Litchfield 35, Joanne Dean 34, and Gai Singleton with 33 stableford points.
Rob Singleton had 41 stableford points and another winning score when the men played stableford on Wednesday.
NTP on the 18th was Trevor McCaw, and ball competition winners were Paul Beaver 40, Rodger Sutton 39, and Rob Daniell who finished with 37 stableford points.
The first round of the 24/25 Summer Series 9 Hole Competition was played on Thursday.
After countback on 18 points, Harry Daniel claimed the day.
Gai Singleton on 18, and Cooper Sutton and Leo McNamara each on 17 stableford points as winners in the ball competition.
No golf was played at Finley on Saturday or Sunday, as the band of volunteers were looking after the annual coring of the greens.
NSW Sand Greens Championships
The 2024 Sand Greens Championships at Nyngan Golf Club saw the Nyngan home club David Rose win his second championship.
David shot a five under second round of five under par for a six under par total to take the title by a ten stroke margin to Finley’s Ian Armer Jnr.
The nett winner was also from Nyngan, with Graham Tomek taking out the event on a countback from Cobar’s Craig Dillon who was the first round leader.
The Junior Sand Greens Championship was again won by Warren’s Joey Walker.
Nyngan took out the team title with David Rose teaming up with his son Shane and Mitchell Williams.
The NSW Veteran’s Sand Greens Championship is held in conjunction with the event, and Brian Jenner (Kew Golf Club) won this championship by five strokes to Narromine’s Robert Williams.
Finley players Colin McNamara and Paul Beaver, along with Matt Whelan from Berrigan and Hay Club players Paul Pless, Greg Crocker and Eddie Redfern joined Ian Armer from Finley in representing the Western Riverina District Golf Association in this annual event.
They represented their clubs and the WRDGA well, within the 140-man field.
Southern Riverina Veterans
The Southern Riverina Veterans Golf Association October competition day was played at the Jerilderie Sports and Golf Club on Monday this week, with 80 golfers taking to the course.
Stableford was played and Ron Huy from Tocumwal, with 38 points, took the A-grade trophy. Graeme Evans from Cobram Barooga, on 36, was runner-up.
David Gregson from Yarrawonga had 35 to claim B-grade, with Paul McVicar from Berrigan runner-up with 34.
John Beard from Cobram Barooga, 36 points, took C-grade from Jim Oakley from Tocumwal who had 35.
NTP on the 10th went to Shane Halloran (Tocumwal), on the 7th Don Jackson (Cobram Barooga), and the 13th John Hodges (Cobram Barooga). The All Grades NTP was claimed by Tony Foristall from Yarrawonga.
Players with 27 stableford points or better were winners in the ball competition.
