In very hot conditions more than 100 players thoroughly enjoyed playing tennis on the well-prepared grass courts by curator Adrian Pantling.
Tournament directors Vince Branigan and Dave O’Donoghue did an excellent job ensuring all players played plenty of tennis and had enough rest between matches.
Tournament secretary Wendy McDonald put in a high amount of work leading up to and during the tournament to ensure its success.
Winners of the Mens Open Singles was Luke Jenkins ,defeating Cody George, both players being 17 years of age in a field of 18 players, the Womens Open Singles winner was Tamara Jungwirth who defeated Kim Summerill.
In the Men’s A-Grade Singles, Justin Stute defeated Dean Placek, in B-Grade Colin McKay defeated Jake McDonald, under-15 boys Jack Forde defeated Viktor Lairson, B-Grade Ladies Meg Cooke defeated Kate Campbell and Under-13 Girls Euroa’s Ella Hill defeated Ella Forde.
In the mixed doubles, A-Grade winners were Paul and Sophie Mackey, B-Grade Paul Henshall and Di Abbott and C-Grade winners Greg Rowe and Sue Piper.
On Monday Men’s A-Grade Doubles was won by Luke Jenkins and Cody George, B-Grade winners Paul Henshall and Jim Long, C-Grade Archie Cant and Dave O’Donoghue and Men’s Veterans was won by Mark Borthwick and Colin McKay.
In the A-Grade ladies doubles winners were Sheryn Long and Judy Buzza with B-Grade winners being Sue Piper and Wendy Hall.
Club president Mark McDonald thanked Claire Sharp, Wendy Maxwell and helpers who prepared and served delicious healthy food from the kitchen, and Peter Jewell who worked overtime serving cold refreshments from the bar.
Mark thanked all players and visitors for their support of the tournament and looked forward to seeing them all again in early November.
