The rink results were Shane Mathieson 18/18, David Lindsay 16/17 and Bill Armstrong 8/33.
The A3s had a closer contest with Corowa RSL going down 58/59.
Our winning rink was Jimmy Hodder, Ian Hobson, Heather Hodder and Ian Capp, who won 16/14 while Remo Ascenzo drew 24/24 and Ray Bradley went down 18/21.
The B1s travelled to Myrtleford to go down 58/78 with our only competitive rink, Richard Baulch who drew 21/21 and Paul Chapman (19/24) Rhonda Kyval (18/30) were the losing rinks.
The last round of weekend pennant was conducted with our A1s hosting fourth placed Lavington and were 105/73 convincing winners.
The two winning rinks were Bill Armstrong, Ted Armstrong, Anthony Farnham and Andrew Daws who had a huge 40/5 triumph, Graeme Pitts, Peter Brock, Lorna Armstrong and Wayne Neylon won 30/15, while David Lindsay (17/21) and Kevin Morrison (18/32) both kept big board in focus.
The A3s were away to Bright and were narrowly beaten 72/75 with two rinks up and a draw. The results were Ray Bradley, Janis McClure, Jack Berry and Glenda Wines who won 22/13, Remo Ascenzo, Paul Chapman, Di Wilson and Emma Sangster were victorious 19/14 and Alan Campbell drew 19/19, while Tim Hill went down 12/29.
The A4s were home to a strong North Albury and were good enough to grab three rinks, but the fourth rink was a blow out that they couldn’t cover.
The final result a 76/99 loss, but these rinks were Jim Hodder, Trevor Reaper, Heather Hodder and Kath Nunan 27/24, Hans Dartmann, Graeme Currie, Loch Lidgerwood and John Nicholson 22/17, Brian Higgins, Brenda Sunderland, Wendy Joseph and Bella Hately 20/19 and the heavy loss Ian Hobson 7/39.
Sunday saw our junior girls and boys play off on green A. The girls was between Bella Hately and Keely Williams who prior to Christmas walked into the club curious to see if the game of bowls was for her.
After numerous roll-ups she was asked to put her name down to play Bella.
Keely was on board early for a big lead, but Bella grabbed some late shots to go down 21/7.
In the boys, Alex Briggs and Jack Berry who both have their names on the trophy, faced off with Alex out of blocks early to build a big lead which Jack couldn’t peg back.
The final score being 21/6 to Alex, who next Saturday will play in Benalla’s top team in the first final.
Also played were rounds of the 21/up, with now the semi-finals play-offs on Saturday, March 8, with matches between Ray Bradley and Hans Dartmann, and Dale Brooker playing Anthony Farnham.
Next Sunday sees the start of ladies and men’s minor singles. The next round of 100/up is on February 23 and again members are encouraged to play during the week if unavailable for the cut-off date.
