Yarrawonga Bowls
Pennant
Well the past week certainly showed the extremes of temperatures in our great land ..playing in sweltering high 30’s one week, to being washed out with tornadoes and excessive rainfalls! Unfortunately it greatly impacted the bowls and the majority of the games for the week were washed out with only the A1s midweek getting a result.

YMGCR Bowls
Midweek Pennant
It was a much needed all rink clean sweep when the A1s played Benalla at Benalla. After the last bowl had been sent down on the 63rd end it was YMGCR 81 shots and 14 points to Benalla 38 shots and 0 points.
Winning as they pleased were Rhonda Irvine (L), Chris Horne (2), Greg Green (3), and Ian Brimblecombe (S), who accounted for Benalla in fine style 24 shots to Benalla 9 shots. Also winning with a leg in the air were, Laureen Smith (L), Ray Brown (2), Michael Vaughan (3), and Anne Miles (S), who accounted for Benalla 31 shots to 15 shots.
Ian Febey (L), Shirley Hummel (2), Gary Presnell (3), and Ray Irvine also added to their host’s woes when they bested Benalla 26 shots to 14 shots.
This latest three rink win sees the A1s in 6th place on the ladder, and next week they play host to Kiewa at the Golf Club.
Unfortunately, the A2 division was completely washed out due to heavy rains. The A2s were due to play Dederang at Dederang.
Across the A2 division all side were allocated 7 points each, due to the cancelled games.
The A2s now find themselves in the mid table zone, where they sit in 5th place, and next week they entertain Club Mulwala at home.
Wednesday Social Bowls
Last Wednesday saw 20 players participate in the weekly Wednesday social game. Sharing the first prize of $80 and a drink card each were Chris Horne and Les Wilson.
In second place and taking home $40 between them were Neville Coleman and Robyn Forge.
The consolation prize for the losing rink went to Jan Morton and Jodi Powell, who shared $20.
The first lucky number prize of $20 went to Ross Lloyd. The second lucky number prize of $10 was won by Jan Morton.
Weekend Pennant
All games in the A1 division were abandoned early on Saturday morning. A shame for the A1s as they were due to play Kiewa at the Golf Club in a fixture where, despite being in 7th place on the ladder, YMGCR would have gone into the game with a degree of confidence.
All sides shared 9 points each, so regarding the ladder positions it was a case of, ‘as you were’.
The A1s are in 7th place on the ladder and next week travel to the far end of Belmore St to play Yarrawonga who are 5th place on the table.
The A3s were also subject to an abandoned fixture last Saturday where they were due to play Mansfield at Mansfield.
Most clubs closed their greens early on Saturday morning, and consequently all sides were allocated 9 points each.
As with the A1s all sides, ‘marked time’, concerning the ladder. The A3s are in 6th place and next week play host to Swanpool, who are 3rd place on the ladder.
The A5 division was also washed out and YMGCR were rostered to play Milawa at Milawa.
As none of the games got away from the start line all sides in the division shared 7 points each.
The A5s are in 6th place on the ladder and next week face Commercial Club, who are in first place on the ladder, at the Golf Club.
Until next week, good bowling.
