The seniors came up against last year’s premier at home on Saturday, with a few boys missing through injury, knowing it was going to be a huge test to see where they sit in the competition.
While the boys did stick with Greta for the first 15 minutes of the game, Greta then took control of the contest with clean use of the ball while running in numbers to leave the boys chasing tails all day.
This was a wake up for the boys, who will regroup and learn a lot from the game going into the Easter break with a 2-1 win loss ratio after the first three games.

This week saw the Bats win a very defensive game, as Greta’s pressure was exceptional which meant our defenders had to step up and do the same.
Nelle Cousins led the way from GK with plenty of intercepts and we spent the first three quarters just one goal up at each break before our attacking end got sorted, with Kylie Relf putting plenty of drive in the circle and Amelia Gall feeding consistently for the game.

The reserves had a tough day coming up against Greta at home with an undermanned team on Saturday, with the backline under immense pressure from the start.
Both Jeremy Hill and Jeremy Sloan worked hard for the boys along with the captain, Mitch Dansey, who was in everything around the ground, and without them the result could have been much worse.
Best players - Jeremy Hill (Bouwmeesters Bakery), Jeremy Sloan (Hollywoods Pizza), Mitch Dansey (Royal Hotel), Matt Priest (SportsPower Award), Gary Priest (Early Bird Coffee Award), Dylan Barber (Quality Wool Club Award).

It was hot day as Goorambat took on Greta at home in a tough tussle all game, with the lead changing consistently.
The Bats’ defence forced great turnovers with Tayla Dempster getting crucial intercepts to keep the Bats in the game.
With a few changes seeing Carli Hogan go into goals, the attacking end lifted with some great shooting and combined well with Aneiki Pierce. It was another great team effort by the Bats to come away with a draw on the final whistle.

The girls came out this week with strong drives onto the ball and consistent defence. Back in the line up for another season is Lacey Carter, starting the game off in attacking with great control and moving the ball into the attacking end, then heading to the defensive end for the second half, making Greta’s goalies work for every goal.
She found support from Cienna Berry in WA, finding her rhythm and making strong drives, and Katelyn Russell stepping out into GA to help bring the ball into the ring.
The girls remained positive and energetic on court despite not being able to score often.

This week saw the young girls come up against Greta, and we always knew it was going to be a tough one coming up against a well disciplined team.
But the girls started off well with great ball movement the whole way down the court and scored six goals in the first half, although Greta’s girls kept coming in their attacking end which made our defenders work tirelessly.
With a couple of girls filling in this week (Yollanda Bourke and Elsie Cunneen) they slotted in very nicely to the teams rotation like they have been part of the side for weeks.
Even though our girls ran out of legs in the last quarter, they never gave up and kept fighting until the final whistle. They are showing great growth as a team even just three games into the season.
Keep up the great learning girls, it will all come together.
