It took only six balls before Heslin had the first of the day and his fifth for the innings, having dangerous Rovers stalwart ‘Lucky’ caught behind for a duck.
Five balls later and it was Angus McMillan who had the ball on a string from the opposite end, nipping one across Matt Whitten who got a faint edge, caught once again by Clarke.
It was five overs before the next wicket would fall, but the Rovers could only manage seven runs in that time, and it was Heslin once again who made the breakthrough, hitting the top of off stump to secure his sixth wicket for the innings, finishing with figures of 6/26 from his 18 overs.
With runs hard to come by, the Rovers dug in for a 10th wicket partnership, putting on eleven runs in six overs.
With just 12 runs left to defend, the ball was thrown to young quick Van Kreeck, who already had a wicket to his name on the first day.
Kreeck’s first three balls were left alone, he then steamed in for his fourth, nipped one away from the right handed Lugg, tickled the outside edge which was caught easily by Clarke once again behind the wicket. A memorable victory for the Lakers, which sees them equal on points with fourth placed Ovens Valley United.
The Lakers will look to continue their winning form when they take on Benalla Bushrangers this weekend at Stan Hargreaves Oval.
A reserve win with a third consecutive score over 200
A great start from skipper Brendan Hill winning the toss and electing to have a bat.
Himself and veteran Jug O’Bryan headed out and put on a quick fire 35 run partnership before O’Bryan tried to put one a metre away from gully but getting caught by an absolute screamer.
Hill was knicked off not long after. Soon headed out F Smart and L Buerkner.
Buerkner hitting the shot of the day through the covers and then proceeded to leave a straight one to get bowled.
Next came out S ‘mule’ Lidgerwood looking to double up on last weeks golden, quickly getting off the mark with a ball hit straight to short cover and trying to run out fitness fanatic Smart.
The two cruised along at 5 an over to put on 63 before some silly cricket shots, and in came the return of Andrew ‘the dancing accountant’ Dishot and the very inform JT.
The two put on 100 runs in an entertaining innings together and both raised the bat for their own 50’s putting the team in a very strong position at 7-225 at the end of innings.
Opening up the bowling was O Connell and Dishot. The dancing accountant was back in-form getting 2 wickets in his second over.
After Connell’s tight first few overs, skipper Hill thought it would be a good time to throw the ball to the self-proclaimed ‘vicious swing bowler’ better known as ‘Mule’ to proceed to just scuff the new ball up with some very average off cutters.
Fortunately for the Lakers, he only bowled 3 bad balls for the day and all three had the batsmen finding the fielders and being dismissed.
Next came inform JT and ‘Chompers’ Docking to tighten the screws on the visitors and forcing 2 run outs.
Next Tom ‘Love Doc’ Lovel was thrown the ball alongside the newly discovered fast swing bowler Smart scaring the 10 year old boy batting at 11.
Lovel cleaned up the tail with 3 wickets and keeping Delatite to a measly 126.
Overall, a dominant day for the Lakers A Reserve and now having taken back the top spot of the ladder and locked themselves in season 24/25 finals campaign.

This was until Al Reilly and Alex Kealy formed a good partnership playing smart cricket as well as putting the pressure back on the experienced opening bowlers.
Shortly after seeing through the openers, Al Reilly fell for a gritty “14” and once again a collapse was had as three quick wickets had the boys facing an uphill battle at 6-68.

Cross town rivalry ends in thriller
Yarrawonga Mulwala Lakers 5/105 def by Yarrawonga Mulwala Bulls 4/117.
Thursday night saw cricket back at Stan Hargreaves Oval as the Under 12 Lakers took on cross-town rivals, the Bulls.
Benji won the toss and sent the Lakers in to bat first. Isaac McLarty and Billy Vagg got the Lakers off to a great start, both retiring at the top of the order, but unfortunately this bought about a mini collapse from the younger brigade who found the going a bit tougher this week against some good bowling.
Kirsty Plevnik watched it all unfold from the non-strikers end and dug in well to retire on 9 from her 15 balls. Eamon Pickering came in and played a great captains knock to steady the ship with 10 retired.
The Lakers then lost a couple more wickets, which brought the other skipper Isaac back to the fray.
He blasted his way to 43 not out and along with Rosie Lidgerwood 4 not out. They constructed a very competitive total of 5/105 from their 20 overs.
With the ball it was hard work. The Bulls batted well and capitalised on a few missed chances in the field to run down the total with 10 balls to spare.
Best bowlers for the Lakers were Eamon 3 overs 1/6, Darcy O’Dwyer 1 over 1/12 and Isaac 3 overs 2/25.
Special mention to youngsters Darcy and Rory Buerckner who did a good job with the keeping gloves.
Next week the Lakers dust themselves off and head to Wangaratta to take on Maggies White at North Wang oval.
Blasters blockbuster
Sunday morning was a warm one down at Stan Hargreaves Oval with the Blasters Blockbuster session!
Thank you to Pete for running the session and also to the senior playing group and the few juniors who were able to attend, for coming along and showing the up and coming Blasters how amazing this game really is.
The session started off with a few batting and bowling practice before taking a little break with the slip and slide whilst practicing field catches.
Fair to say the kids loved this part.
The second half of the session the kids got into groups and played some mini cricket games all taking turns in batting, fielding, bowling and wicket keeping.
The club sure have some up and coming Scotty Boland’s and Steve Smith’s in the mix.
Although not too many kids came down to the session, it was still really great to see them all out there having fun and encouraging each other in their mini games.
The session ended with a group photo before the kids devoured their icey poles and sausage sizzle (thanks Wally for cooking).
Club members hope you all enjoyed your goodie bags!
Term 1 Woolworths Blaster Session kicks off this Friday, February at 4:45pm.
