Organisations have been urged to utilise the Community Cricket Program’s third instalment with $1.4 million up for grabs to be put toward improving infrastructure.
The package can assist with anything from training net upgrades through to developing female-friendly and accessible change rooms; member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp encouraged district clubs to throw up their hands and apply for the grant.
“We’re helping clubs and councils build or upgrade facilities for the local cricket community, opening up new opportunities for training, competition and player development,” Gepp said.
“I encourage our local clubs, associations and councils to get together and see if the Community Cricket Program can make a difference in Northern Victoria.
“We’re getting on with the job of creating better cricket facilities for our next generation, so they can emulate their Test, one-day, BBL and WBBL sporting heroes.”
More than $2.8 million has been invested through the Community Cricket Program since 2019.
The initiative greatly helps clubs draw in numbers by assisting in modernising facilities and offering new pathways to players.
