The Cats engineered a 44-33 upset over Mulwala to splinter the competition's ladder and draw level with the sixth-placed Lions.
Tongala in fifth spot has six wins — double that of Mulwala, Barooga, Echuca United and Finley in the chasing pack.
“It was definitely a really good performance, it was great,” Finley netball director Sasha Wood said.
“The team is just starting to gel really well together.
“It's been a whole team effort, we started the season with only four core A-grade players in Savannah Wilson, Ruby Russell, Maicie Close and Shania Bentley.
“They've been great for the stability of the side.”
The Cats face the unique challenge of defending their win against the Lions immediately when the rescheduled round eight fixtures arrive this weekend.
“We have Mulwala again this week and we know they're obviously going to come out firing,” Wood said.
“They get to have a crack at us again straight away, but hopefully we can perform well again.
“We're very lucky to have those four core A-graders as well as some very strong juniors coming through C and A-grade.”
Ladder-leader Nathalia faces Rumbalara (third) on Saturday, with the rest of the top five in Deniliquin, Moama and Tongala having the bye.
Cobram hosts Echuca United and Congupna battles Barooga in the other fixtures of the round.
