Going into the game a spot below the Scorpions, Tristan Zito’s men conjured up a 5-0 thrashing to hurdle the visitors into third on the Bendigo Amateur Soccer League ladder.
The first came five minutes in, courtesy of the unlikeliest of sources.
Holding midfielder Cooper Gosstray buried his first goal in Ibis colours, earning plenty of plaudits from his fellow players.
Skipper Cody Sellwood then added a second a 15 minutes later.
Jordan Leocata netted either side of half-time to double his side's lead before Sellwood applied the icing with his second late into the contest.
“I didn't think it was necessarily our best performance, but to win convincingly against one of the better sides in the comp was really pleasing,” Zito said.
“We kept the ball well and had control of the game which we've been working on.
“Tim Bordignon was fantastic for us in the middle, it's fantastic when different players step up each week and it's not the same few contributing.”
At McEwen Reserve, a screening of the Joel Aitken show had Shepparton South see off Golden City 6-2.
Aitken was at his unplayable best, bagging five against the Rams in what would prove to be a game-winning performance from the striker.
His first came in the 24th minute to cancel out Thu Rah Maung’s opener for City.
However, the celebrations were short-lived as Rozman Kawmar converted seconds after the restart to pull City ahead once more.
But Aitken wasn’t having any of it.
South’s talisman struck once more before half-time to restore parity and again in the 65th minute to send South out to a one-goal buffer.
His strike partner Shaun Kane added to City’s misery in the following sequence, before Aitken slotted two more in quick succession to kill the game dead.
In Bendigo, a second-half collapse cost Shepparton United what would have been a milestone victory away at Eaglehawk.
Fedah Aziz’s magisterial free kick on the half-hour sent the Blues into the sheds a goal ahead, but three second-half goals from the Borough eventually sealed United’s fate in a scrappy affair.
In the Women’s Championship, Shepparton South had the nets singing against an underpowered Golden City.
Hitting the park with nine players, City was no match for the attacking might of South during an 8-2 rout, with Alicia Rowan leading the line with a salivating haul of six.
Her total now reads 31 for the season, while Cayla Ruijters’ double takes her tally to eight.
Meanwhile, a Nicola Minicozzi brace was not enough to lift Tatura to a win.
Lining up against bottom-placed Epsom, the Ibises could only field nine players, but fought hard to take the lead twice throughout the match.
But a late Katrina Alford goal plunged a knife through Tatura’s heart, signaling the chance for its second points of the season going begging.
Lastly, Rezwana Baqiri’s opener turned out to be a consolation for Shepparton United, as it shipped three goals to Eaglehawk without reply to fall 3-1.
