The old foes went toe-to-toe in a thrilling round two contest that went the way of the Bears by a solitary point.
However, Mooroopna has enjoyed a dream run since that night to now sit inside the Goulburn Valley League top six.
Mooroopna coach John Lamont said his outfit was eager to rectify the disappointment of the crushing defeat.
“It's a massive game for us,” Lamont said.
“We feel we have a point to prove. We dominated the inside 50 count and time in forward half and it was a missed opportunity. Credit to Shepparton for being much more efficient than us when they went forward.
“It's an important game and we can't wait for Saturday.”
Despite the Bears being glued to the bottom of the ladder, Lamont is expecting a fiery home side.
“Shepparton has been competitive in large chunks of their games this season,” he said.
“We are expecting a close tussle, playing in front of their home crowd, hopefully it's not as close as one point.”
Lamont and his coaching staff have a few selection headaches in front of them due to injuries to three key players.
On-baller Matt Deane, Liam Betson and Jordan Formica are all watching on from the sidelines after the trio was unable to finish off last week's win over Benalla.
“Those three guys will miss which will make us lose a bit of structure,” Lamont said.
“You are never really at full-strength at this stage of the season and it will be a good chance to give a few youngsters another crack.
“Jordan is having scans on his knee, so hopefully he gets a positive result. Liam has done a standard hammy and then Matt copped a knock to his lower leg and it's blown up in size but it's not broken which is good news.”
