So on Saturday, when execution of the brand was impeccable, there were no surprises as to why the Orangemen emerged victorious.
The Suns swept Bulleen Lions under the rug at David Barro Stadium, dominating in all areas of play to come away with a 3-0 win in National Premier League Two.
“It was the most complete performance of the season; the desire, intensity and work ethic was unbelievable which allowed us to play our brand of football,” Carley said.
“We popped the ball around really well and at times looked unplayable, which is a real credit to the boys considering we have had the layoff.”
All it took was 22 minutes for Carley’s men to take the lead.
A sharp press found the Suns in dangerous territory, with Sean Grant’s sizzling ball sent across the box met by a deft touch at the front post from Vani Shamoon for 1-0.
No less than 15 minutes passed until Grant entered the limelight himself.
Bending a corner in from the left, a pinballing sequence landed the ball at the feet of the Scotsman, who cut in and bent a beauty past the flailing arms of Lions custodian Wonsuk Choi.
That left the Suns heading into the sheds at two goals without concession — and the second half was as stringent.
While the Orangemen refused to budge at the back, Bulleen sent numbers forward in despair.
The pressure played right into the travellers’ hands, with Shane Dunne applying the varnish on a slick Suns move down the right to bury the Lions with a third in the 89th minute.
Carley was overjoyed at how his troops came out swinging after a month off, hoping to replicate the performance at home this weekend.
“It was really important to return with a win, as it keeps us in that leading bracket of teams chasing those top two spots,” he said.
“To score three quality goals away from home and keep a clean sheet is the perfect way to bounce back and hopefully we can continue to build from here.”
● Earlier, Roven Shaholli’s under-21s were dealt a hammer blow, edged 1-0 courtesy of a late Bulleen goal.
Conversely, the Suns’ under-19s kept their unbeaten streak running with a 2-1 win, with the result orchestrated by goals from Joshua Everingham and Joseph Sepe.
