Wright's bag, which takes his season tally to 19 goals from four games, was the difference as the Tigers won by five points against Jerilderie.
The 11.10 (76)-to-10.11 (71) result was set up by a strong second half, in which the Tigers kicked six goals to three, after trailing by 15 at the main break.
Sam Poole continued his fine season, with another best-on-ground effort, while John Woodcock also stood out.
For the Demons, Mitch Conlan's five goals took his season tally to 27 from eight matches, and Grant Smith was also impressive in the match of the round.
Tungamah made it five wins in a row after defeating Katandra by 21 points.
The Bears were down by four points at quarter time and one at halftime and three-quarter time before storming home with a five-goal-to-two final term.
Ash Saunders was best on ground with five goals for the Bears, while Jeremy O'Brien kicked three in the 14.15 (99) to 12.6 (78) win, which was James Irvine's 100th match.
Tom Jeffery (four goals) was the best in front of the sticks for the Kats.
“It was a tight contest for both clubs,” Bears’ coach Xavier Stevenson said.
“They are a well coached side and it was goal for goal for the first three quarters and then we kicked away in the last, which has been a bit of a theme for us.
“We continued to keep barrelling into the contest with pressure and up forward Ash Saunders is really strong one on one and he was able to get on the end of a few goals.”
Tungamah's recent formline has seen them move into the top four and with two games in hand on some of their nearest rivals, the Bears are in good shape for a serious tilt at this year's flag.
Mathoura kicked the only four goals of the final term to run out winners by 25 points in their clash with Yarroweyah.
Izaac Johnson has 21 goals for the season, after kicking three in Saturday's 11.14 (80) to 8.7 (55) victory.
John Allitt and Andrew Evans also played key roles in the clash.
Shaun Greenway kicked three for the Grasshoppers, while Lucas Olson added two.
The Timbercutters now have five wins and are out of the eight on percentage only and coach Darcy Robinson said that was on their minds heading into the clash.
“That's why it was so important to win that one,” Robinson said.
“We are starting to get back to full strength and if we have 22 players who play a role we will win more consistently.”
Robinson said Yarroweyah was always a tough opposition.
“Every time you play Yarroweyah, you have to work for it,” he said.
“They have some good players running around.
“We were out to redeem ourselves after last week's disappointing result and we did that but, we had to work for it.”
Tocumwal backed up its win over Katamatite with a 58-point win over Blighty.
The Bloods set up the 13.9 (87) to 4.5 (29) win with a eight goal to one opening half.
Mitch Collins-Bye kicked three goals in the win, as did Drew Haebich.
Kyel Bain also kicked three of Blighty's four goals, while Sam Singleton was the Redlegs’ other goal scorer.
Will Gorman now has 33 goals for the year, after kicking three in Berrigan's big win over Picola.
The Saints were inaccurate in front of goal as they kicked 11.23 (89), 2.7 of which was kicked in the second quarter, to defeat the Blues, who scored 5.7 (37).
Ronald Harley-Middleton (one goal) and Matthew Ross (two) were the main contributors for the Saints, alongside Gorman.
Blake Jorgensen made it back-to-back best on ground performances for the Blues.
Zack-Harie Betson and Marcus McMillan backed up their 10-goal efforts against Blighty, with eight more each in Strathmerton's domination of Deniliquin.
The Bulldogs kicked 14 goals unanswered in the opening half to set up the 28.13 (181) to 1.8 (14) victory.
Tim Looby, who is the competition's leading goalkicker with 49, added four goals, seven less than his contribution against the Redlegs last week.
James Kirby kicked the Rovers’ only goal.
Eight goals from Charlie Burrows saw Waaia annihilate Rennie by 175 points.
The Bombers kicked 13 goals to one in the opening half, before adding 15 to none after the major break in the 28.18 (186) to 1.7 (13) win.
Jesse Trower and Sam Richardson each contributed three goals in the victory.
Chase Strawhorn, who has 38 goals for the season, was Rennie's only goalkicker.
