The star guard signed with her former club Bendigo Spirit earlier this week after spending the past six seasons with Melbourne Boomers.
Garrick, 29, first landed at Spirit as a 17-year-old before she returned four years later and became a member of the club's 2013 and 2014 championship winning sides.
The former Shepparton Gators junior said she was excited to land back at Bendigo and help the team return to finals glory.
“I believe we will be strong competitors to get back to playing finals,” Garrick said.
“I’m really looking forward to new opportunities with Bendigo and playing with the squad that is being put together, which will be an exciting team to watch this season.
“This change has come at a perfect time for me to take on a new challenge and continue to expand my game and impact on and off the court.”
Garrick will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Spirit line-up for the 2021-22 WNBL season.
She has represented Australia and spent the past two seasons as co-captain of Melbourne Boomers.
Spirit coach Tracy York said she was looking forward to seeing Garrick showcase her classy skills in the blue and gold colours.
“Maddie joins our growing list of elite women’s basketballers to join the Spirit,” York said.
“She is a versatile and very talented offensive player who also showed last year in the hub she can be a lock down defender.
“We think Maddie brings an X-factor about her, as we have seen with the Boomers and on the world stage.”
The move to Bendigo comes as Garrick prepares for the upcoming FIBA 3x3 Olympic qualifiers in Austria later this month.
Garrick will be an integral member of the Australian women's outfit when it takes to the court from May 26-30 for a spot in the Tokyo Olympics.
Australia has drawn pool B and will front up against rival Japan on the opening day.
Garrick has fond memories against the first-round opponent.
The smooth operator nailed a buzzer beater at the 2019 3x3 World Cup against Japan.
Garrick and her teammates will be out to book one of the six spots available at the upcoming Olympics.
