The Ibises were without a win before the weekend — in fact, they’d only scored a single goal over four rounds.
But on Sunday, they scored 12.
Two minutes was all it took for Tatura to strike through Gabriela Posteraro, who scored again not long after Lizzy Corbo’s fifth-minute finish.
Madison Forte then struck twice, while Nicola Minicozzi added to Swan Hill’s miseries with one of her own.
However, the bulk of the damage was carried out by Corbo and Tara Bray, who hit hat-tricks to seal a memorable day in Ibisland.
Co-coach Jess Posteraro, who added her side’s 11th late in the tie, was absolutely ecstatic at how her troops turned up in attack to get off the mark in 2021.
“It was a great feeling to put away some goals and definitely made the girls a lot more confident in their ability,” Posteraro said.
“It was great to see the team working on their attacking play throughout the game as we have been playing more defensive against other teams in previous games.
“The season started off tough, but hopefully after this win it will bring the girls’ spirits up and we’ll keep improving for the rest of year.”
In Bendigo, Shepparton United also had the net bulging.
Rezwana Baqiri and Maria Villani kept the golden boot race ticking for the Blues, scoring six between them during a 10-3 destruction of Golden City.
Trinity Cameron left with three, while Jailah Martin grabbed her first of the season.
At McEwen Reserve, the spoils didn’t extend to Shepparton South, with Cayla Ruijters scoring the consolatory goal during a 6-1 loss to Colts.
And in the men’s division, Shepparton United’s injury woes cost it a routine win at Golden City.
Forced to drag themselves from the mud at 2-0 down, Liam Nash was forced from the field before midfielder Shah Mohammad Sharifi also departed with a broken wrist.
The Blues rallied, however, scoring first through coach Hussein Sumaili before Fedah Aziz secured the point with a blistering effort from range.
Shepparton South and Tatura will return to action this weekend after a fortnight off the park.
