Off the back of her standout NAB League under-19 girls’ season, the Shepparton United talent went home with the Murray Bushrangers’ best-and-fairest medal.
Smith, 17, edged out Benalla product and United teammate Keeley Skepper to claim the 2021 Daisy Pearce Medal, named after the AFLW superstar, who hails from Bright in the Bushrangers’ talent zone.
Taking home the prestigious medal caps what has been a breakout campaign from the classy speedster.
The on-baller wowed onlookers on the wing and through the midfield this season, where she averaged 20.5 disposals and almost five inside 50s a game.
One performance of Smith's that sticks in the minds of supporters is the round seven victory over Gippsland Power.
Smith had the ball on a string in her 25-disposal outing, that also included six marks, five tackles and six inside 50s.
The 165cm jet caught the eye of draft scouts with her impressive ball-winning ability and earned a state gong with Vic Country at the AFLW under-19 National Carnival.
The ultra-consistent operator was among the best performers for Vic Country.
Speaking during the NAB League season, Bushrangers assistant coach Mario de Santa-ana spoke highly of Smith.
“Aurora has taken it all in her stride this year,” de Santa-ana said.
“Each week she continues to improve. She just gets on with the job, puts her head down and works really hard.
“And it was great to see her rewarded with selection at the national championships.”
The efforts of Smith and Skepper on Sunday night meant that it was a Shepparton United one-two in the vote count.
Skepper enjoyed a sublime season for the Bushies, where she achieved the rare feat of representing Vic Country at under-17 and under-19 level.
The silky midfielder displayed impressive skills around the contest and her elite left-foot sliced opposition teams open.
The 17-year-old averaged 16 disposals for the Bushrangers, while her one effort for Vic Country turned heads.
Skepper tallied 18 disposals, six tackles and dominated around the contest with seven clearances in a best-afield performance.
