United's spirited 2-1 triumph over one of the competition's talented lists stole headlines in the men's competition on Sunday.
Facing a red-hot Tatura on its home deck, a determined performance from the visitors helped deliver them their opening win of the season.
Shepparton United president Nathan Sali was over the moon with the effort from the senior side.
“A lot of heart and determination was shown by the boys and that's what got us over the line,” Sali said.
“When you play with that kind of attitude it goes a long way.
“We had a loss in the first week, we knew we were better than what we dished up and we didn't want to replicate that again.
“It was a very pleasing performance to turn it around against one of the best teams in the comp.”
Still smarting from an opening round loss, United was forced to make a change shortly after kick-off at Howley Oval.
Kadhim Alhilfi went down with a hamstring injury and Dinovic Kasongo replaced him on the wing.
Neither side was able to break the deadlock until former Goulburn Valley Sun David Musafiri opened proceedings with a thumping header just after the half-hour mark.
And from that moment, United never looked back.
United controlled play and was rewarded for its impressive efforts less than 10 minutes after the main break.
Kasongo, the super substitute, got on the end of a gem pass from Roven Shaholi and finished it off to give United a 2-0 lead.
The Ibises were able to peg one back in the 80th minute, but the damage was already done.
Musafiri was a standout for United, while Andrew Kyriakou and Shaholi's experience and leadership were important factors in the win.
Sali said there was a hint of anticipation around the club.
“It's really exciting when you can knock off quality opponents,” he said.
“It's a massive achievement, especially from where we were earlier this year as a club. As president, I couldn't be prouder."
United's memorable win was soured with Shah Mohammad Sharifi suffering a groin injury late in the second half.
● Shepparton South got its first win of the season in stellar fashion.
South punished La Trobe University 8-1 in what was an old-school belting at McEwen Reserve.
Rob Harmeston’s men were electric in the first half — taking full advantage of a 10-man La Trobe outfit — and banged home six into the back of the net.
Classy operator Joel Aitken enjoyed a day out as he feasted on four goals, while teammate Shaun Kane chipped in with two.
Keegan Armstrong and Frank Mariner ended up on the score sheet with a goal each.
● Moama-Echuca Border Raiders endured a miserable day against Epsom.
The Raiders suffered a disappointing 7-1 defeat on their home deck.
