Mathoura will be licking its wounds after missing plenty of opportunities in front of goal, finishing with six extra scoring shots in the 6.16 (52) to 8.8 (56) loss.
The second quarter was where the Timbercutters wasted the most opportunities, scoring 2.7.
Mathoura then kicked 1.4 in the third stanza.
Despite the dominance of Mathoura, Jerilderie led at every change, with the highest margin at the four breaks being six points, which was the margin at quarter and three-quarter time.
Brad Aylett, David Gregory and Mitch Conlan all kicked two goals for Jerilderie, while Darcy Robinson kicked two for Mathoura.
Reigning premier Strathmerton started its premiership defence with a four-goal win over Katunga.
The Bulldogs led from start to finish and at half-time led by 31 points.
However, they didn't have it all there own way as the Swans came back in the third quarter, kicking five goals to one to reduce the deficit to eight points at the final change before Strathmerton finished with three goals to one to win 10.13 (73) to 7.7 (49).
Lance Oswald and Tim Looby kicked three for the victors, while Kevin Vandengoor (three goals) was the most productive forward for the Swans.
Berrigan made it two wins from two after defeating Yarroweyah 15.11 (101) to 11.8 (74).
The victory was set up in the first half, where the Saints kicked 11 goals to six.
Berrigan had nine different goal-kickers with Ronald Middleton the best of them with four goals.
Andrew Jones finished with five for the Grasshoppers.
The victory follows Berrigan's big win in the stand-alone clash with Tocumwal on Good Friday.
Waaia made the trip to Blighty worthwhile, coming home with a 77-point win.
Blighty only kicked two behinds after quarter-time to go down 1.2 (8) to 12.13 (85).
In the third quarter both teams went goalless, but it meant little for Waaia, which started its season on the winners’ list.
Lachlan Karl and Sam Trower kicked three goals each for the Bombers, while Blighty's goal went to Ben Littmann.
Waaia coach Mark Meyland said it was good to finally blow the cobwebs out after 18 months off.
“It was trying conditions and it was fairly windy at Blighty,” Meyland said.
“It wasn't the best spectacle.
“I think we will be better because we have had a run now.
“We had players who hadn't played with each other before, so I think we will be better for the run.”
Meyland said Jessie Trower was the standout for his side in the win.
“He controlled the backline all day,” he said.
“Aussie Tricarico was sensational in the midfield in his first game for us.”
Katamatite's AFL experienced players kicked 10 goals between them as the Tigers beat Rennie by 70 points.
Sam Wright was the star with six goals, while Jamie McMillan and Joel Tippett kicked two each in the 17.16 (118) to 7.6 (48) victory.
They were supported by Sam Poole, who kicked four.
Chase Strawhorn kicked three in the loss for Rennie.
Katandra, which returned to the PDFL this season from the Murray league, also won by 70 points in its match against Deniliquin Rovers.
The 16.14 (110) to 6.4 (40) win was set up by the Kats’ first quarter, in which they kicked 8.5 and kept the Rovers scoreless.
Tom Jeffery and Corey Hickford kicked five each for the Kats, while Scott Howard booted two for Deniliquin.
Tungamah also started its return to the league with a big victory as it knocked off Picola United 21.12 (138) to 7.6 (48).
Tyson McKenzie had a day out kicking 10 goals and Ash Saunders kicked four for Tungamah.
Tungamah's seven first-quarter goals allowed it to get a jump on United and the latter never recovered in the 90-point result.
Tocumwal had the bye.
