Moama opted for short-term pain, long-term gain by selecting its young guns in 2019.
Now, with the addition of some senior bodies, it will be looking to climb up the ladder.
“There's a fair bit of excitement,” Moama coach Luke Eldridge said.
“Our playing group is just jumping out of their skins to be back playing again. We've added some core senior guys into the group, and that adds some real experience and leadership.”
While the club will have a number of new experienced players, Eldridge said the work with the club's young guns in 2019 would be a key for the side.
“It was a really good year for us in terms of development in 2019, we saw a massive leap of development in that group across the season,” he said.
“They've now had all the extra time to prepare. Their bodies are bigger, they're stronger and they've developed their game a lot as well.”
Eldridge expects the new additions to be a big advantage for the club.
“Our younger guys are developing, but they're still learning. Having those senior players around takes a bit of pressure off, it gives a bit of protection from throwing the young guys to the wolves.”
And while the Magpies finished at the bottom of the ladder last season, there are high hopes around their new-look home of Moama Recreation Reserve.
“We think the list we have put together now is a really good one,” Eldridge said.
“And we think it's a list that can be really competitive this season. That's what's really driving the excitement for the group, the belief is there that we will be able to do something really good this season and we hope to show that as the year goes on.”
