Allan Matheson Shield grand final - Golf dominant, but firmly tested

Despite the Goulburn Valley Bowls Division weekend pennant top tier competition being as even as ever, the Golfers always found a way to hit the line ahead of their opponents.

“It probably didn't (feel like a dominant season) the comp was a pretty good comp this year compared to the last few seasons,” Golf coach Brad Orr said.

“It was pretty even and if you didn't rock up on your day you could get done. Euroa managed to beat Tallygaroopna halfway through the year there.

“To the guys’ credit they stuck at it all year.”

And for those on the outside looking in and wondering how number six compares to the rest of the premierships the Golfers have secured along the way, the answer is very favourably.

“There was probably a fair bit riding on that one to be honest,” Orr said.

“It's the club's 60th year as well, Tallygaroopna have obviously got a fair few good players and that added pressure of going through the season undefeated and coming to today, the feeling is probably — they all count, don't get me wrong, but this one's a pretty good feeling for the boys.”
