The heart-stopping games — specifically the afternoon C and A-grade finals — caused so much chaos and drama that TheNews' sports team was in a race to beat deadline.
A quick summary of the two remarkable matches made Tuesday's print edition, however, the premiership photos and reactions from the winning captain's missed the cut.
Until now.
Speaking after he was handed the trophy, Katandra skipper Jedd Wright said his side was lucky to walk away with a thrilling seven-run win over Nagambie.
“We probably got out of jail a fair bit. When you make 90-odd you don't win too many games of cricket,” Wright said.
“But it's probably the story of our year, we don't fire with bat and ball in the same game.”
It was a nice finish to the season for Wright and his Katandra charges, with the Eagles bundled out of the Haisman Shield race on Saturday.
“Yeah, it definitely was (a good end), we probably did lack a little bit of motivation after last Saturday,” Wright said.
“But once we got here and got the warm-up done we were pretty keen to put in a good performance.
“When Ben (Clurey) took that blinder catch, which caught out Barney at the start, we felt like we were a chance to get the job done.”
Wright heaped praise on player-of-the-match Ray Ireland.
“Ray was really good with the ball, he's been around for a long time now and we probably missed him in our final Haisman game,” he said.
“He showed a lot of maturity with the bat as well during those middle overs.”
● Euroa's Linc McKernan was one happy captain following his side's extraordinary super over win against Karramomus.
“I am pretty elated,” McKernan said post-match.
“Obviously it took 20 overs and the extra one at the end to get the job done.
“We managed to get the runs on the board at the start and I think in finals that’s really important and we managed to field and bowl quite well.”
When asked who helped get them over the line, McKernan praised his opening batter and two bowlers.
“Jack McKernan made 46 in the first innings and carried his bat and he hit the winning runs as well.
“With the ball, Brad Gleeson bowled reasonably well, Jake Penman bowled really tight lines, particularly during the middle overs, and that helped slow the run rate down when it was starting to take off there.
