The two-time defending champion will be looking to win the Haisman Shield outright this season, after last year's decider was called off due to the coronavirus pandemic and Numurkah was given the title by default.
But before the Blues can even think about making it to this year's title fight, they will have to find a way to upset Mooroopna, which finished the regular season in second place.
“We haven't really batted well, but we have started batting better in the last few weeks,” Numurkah coach Michael Eckard said.
“Our bowling has been exceptional.
“Our opening bowlers have done their job and the spinners just take over.”
Eckard, who is among the favourites for the Lightfoot Medal after scoring 357 runs at 71.4 and taking 20 wickets at 8.35 from 10 matches, said it was pleasing to see so many of his players in the competition's top run-getters and wicket-takers this season.
“Everyone is contributing, that's the main thing,” he said.
“I'd rather have a lot than one, which means one is doing all the work, or none at all.”
Eckard is expecting an entertaining contest and has revealed the total he hopes to keep the Cats too.
“If you put them under pressure early, they have to force it late,” he said.
“That's what it's like for the whole competition, so the focus will be getting early wickets and keep the bowling tight.
“It's going to be a good contest.
“Hopefully we restrict them around 160 to 180 (if we bowl first).”
With the season being a ripper so far, Eckard is hoping more of the same will occur this weekend.
“It's been close all season,” he said.
“It will be interesting to see the outcomes, not just for Numurkah but other teams as well.”
