League administrator Sam Wood said the competition had made "good progress" pre-COVID, and he hoped the women's game would continue in leaps and bounds this year.
He said giving clubs flexibility was the key, with the chance to tee up games as curtain-raisers to senior men's games or playing after them under lights was something the league was keen to explore.
Most games are scheduled for Sundays, with ground and player availability the key, but Wood said he was keen to give clubs the option to make a switch.
"We’re looking to be pretty flexible with the draw,” Wood said.
“Friday night footy is the prime stage.
“It also lets clubs give a day back to volunteers over the weekend, so it frees a Sunday up for example.”
He said building on the link to the Youth Girls’ competition was also crucial, especially with the impact of COVID-19 on recruitment yet to be determined.
