Leitchville-Gunbower and a newly-formed partnership between Cohuna United and Nondescripts cricket clubs will move from Northern District Cricket Association and field A and B teams and an under-16 side in the association.
Cohuna United and Nondescripts cricket clubs, which are Cohuna-based, will become the Nondies Cohuna Cricket Club in the new competition.
Goulburn Murray's operation manager James Stokes said clearances were a done deal and both clubs would field teams in the association next season.
‘‘We have been talking to them since Christmas,” Stokes said.
“They approached us because of the uncertainty of the future of their competition.
‘‘Their inclusions are certainly great news for our association and clubs and means we will have 10 A-grade sides which will provide stability and extra interest for our competition.’’
Cohuna Cricket Club president Daniel Cooke said the departure of Wandella Cricket Club and almost certainly Barham-Koondrook Cricket Club to the Swan Hill competition next year had left Northern Districts Cricket Association with only three A-grade sides.
It had promoted the move of Leitchville-Gunbower and Cohuna United and Nondescripts cricket clubs to approach Goulburn Murray for inclusion in its association.
For players who don’t want to travel, there will still be a competition for them in the Northern District Cricket Association.
