With the Haisman Shield ladder clogged in the middle, the round 11 encounter at Numurkah Showgrounds was a must-win for Grandell's charges.
And his side — led by a match-winning performance from Tim Braybon (5-22) — stood tall to solidify its spot in fourth position on the table.
“It would have been season over if we lost on Saturday,” Grandell said.
“We've given ourselves a chance now to be involved in finals action. We miss next weekend due to the bye and then face Kyabram last round.
“It was a pretty satisfying win.”
In stifling hot conditions, Numurkah elected to bat first on a tricky deck.
Grandell (47 runs) and Braybon (14) were rock solid from the get-go and the duo posted 65 for the opening partnership.
Euroa's Lucas Paul (3-23) bowled superbly and dismissed both openers.
Soon enough, Numurkah's control on the match began to slip as it lost 6-25.
A late flurry of runs from Matt Price (18 not out) helped drag the host to 8-136.
Unfortunately for the Magpies, their run chase began in disastrous fashion.
Vaughan Kirk was dismissed without troubling the scorers after three deliveries.
Number three bat Sham Dadallage looked in fine touch with a run-a-ball 19, but he was dismissed by a red-hot Braybon — who went on to collect a further four scalps.
Braybon's sublime nine-over spell tore apart Euroa's batting line-up, while teammate Michael Eckard (4-3) spun a web as the visitors finished all out for 74 in the 31st over.
“Our batting wasn't at a standard that we would have liked, but it was a credit to the bowlers for getting us over the line,” Grandell said.
“I thought Euroa bowled really well. They didn't make it easy for us out there.
“But we knew if we bowled well we would be able to defend our total. It's nice to get back out on the winners’ list.”
Grandell was full of praise for his side's strike bowler.
“Tim was huge for us, it was a great all-round performance from him,” he said.
“It's a real credit to him for getting himself really fit. He batted for over an hour and then came on and bowled nine overs straight in 36 degree heat.”
