With groups of 50 now allowed to congregate outdoors as of Monday, Shepparton Runners’ Club is champing at the bit to be back on the course.

The club's wasting no time in resuming weekly running sessions, with Tuesday and Thursday sessions set to go ahead this week for the first time since the second wave of coronavirus hit earlier in the year.
Runners’ club president Mathieu Ryan said he'd "missed seeing everyone's faces" during the time off.
“Everyone runs better in a group, you get to have someone to chase and get the running mentality up,” Ryan said.
“Nothing can replace the social aspect of it.”
The club has tried to replicate the social aspect across the dual lockdowns, with a bingo card of locations to take selfies in, coaching courses posted online and more trying to replace the face-to-face aspect of the twice-weekly sessions.
While Ryan said they'd done a good job, there was nothing like having an in-person run, which is slated for Tuesday from 6 pm.
