They have a fighting fury at Tigerland and it showed on Wednesday night when the historic club and its supporters rallied together at an emergency meeting.
After failing to fill key executive positions at an annual general meeting on November 4, Rushworth called on its past and present Tiger army to fight and fight and win.
And win they did.
Wednesday's special AGM at Ironbark Stadium was a success, with the Kyabram District League club forming a committee.
“It's a fantastic result, it was amazing to see the high turnout at the clubrooms,” league operations manager Nate Dedman said.
“People were rocking up with their life membership badges. The outpouring of support the club received was incredible.”
Club stalwart Ian Harris has taken on the presidency role, with Dave Chillingsworth the club's vice-president.
Harris, a previous president and coach at the Tigers, is father of former AFL footballer and Rushworth export Daniel Harris.
Kathy Barlow and Katherine Jamieson were elected treasurer and secretary respectively.
“Ian is a really well-respected figure in the community and at the club,” Dedman said.
“He'll bring a buzz to the club and lots of motivation. I know there was plenty of excitement when it was announced.”
The recent episode at Rushworth showcases the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has played on football and netball clubs.
Dedman reiterated the importance of clubs to not become complacent.
“Coronavirus was always, and is, going to pose a risk to our clubs,” he said.
“It's a good reminder to our clubs and communities that it's going to be a tough period.
“But it also shows that if you are a member of a community, now is your time to help out and support your local football and netball club.
“You know you drive past places like Swanpool and you see the empty grounds and it just shows that it's hard for clubs to come back out of recess.
“But Rushworth has not gone down the path and it's super positive for the club and its community.”
