The former training partner with the Vixens has had a roller-coaster 15 months, which stretches back to her Australian Netball League grand final win and Goulburn Valley League A-grade final win in 2019.
Which was followed by her incredible rise up the ranks this year when she made her Super Netball debut.
Speaking to Thunderbirds media, Seymour's A-grade coach said she was looking forward to heading to the city of churches.
“I am so excited to be joining the Thunderbirds. I am really grateful to get this opportunity and can’t wait to see what the team can do,” McDonald said.
“I have always really enjoyed coming to Adelaide as I have played netball here before. I am looking forward to this new adventure and can’t wait get to know the girls.”
McDonald said she was overjoyed when Adelaide's head coach Tania Obst had contacted her.
“I was over the moon to see that Tania had reached out to me. It was great to chat with her and get some insight about her vision for the upcoming season and it made me keen to be a part of it,” she said.
Thunderbirds’ high-performance manager Pitre Bourdon spoke glowingly of McDonald's prowess and skill on the netball court, which was highlighted in multiple sublime performances in the Vixens’ midcourt.
“Elle’s an incredibly versatile player with strong netball smarts,” Bourdon said.
“We love that she has the ability to play all three midcourt positions and gives us great flexibility.
“They’re (Matilda Garrett) both quality people as well as quality players, so we know they’ll be great additions to the club and we cannot wait to start working with them.”
