Piastri, who has strong family ties to Shepparton, has never tested out F1 machinery before, but the talented youngster will get his chance on October 30.
Following last week's announcement, the 19-year-old rising star said he could not wait to test his skills on a Formula One beast.
“It’s safe to say I am very excited to be driving the R.S. 18 next week in Bahrain,” Piastri said.
“Obviously, it will be my first test in a Formula One car, so it will definitely be a moment to cherish and remember for a very long time.”

Piastri enjoyed a sublime debut year in Formula Three after he claimed last year's 2019 Formula Renault Eurocup title.
The young gun showcased his race skills throughout the season with exciting overtakes and thrilling race wins.
But despite his superb talents, Piastri understands he still has plenty to learn.
“There will be lots to learn on the day, such as getting used to the power, downforce and braking of the car and it will all be a challenge,” he said.
“But I love tackling new ones (challenges).”
Fellow Renault Academy drivers Christian Lundgaard and Guanyu Zhou will join Piastri in Bahrain.
“Christian and Zhou will be in the R.S. 18 for a second time, whilst Oscar will be experiencing his first time in a Formula One car as a reward for winning the FIA Formula 3 title, plus it is part of his continued progression in the academy,” Renault Sport Academy head Mia Sharizman said.
“The plan for the testing days often varies depending on experience, so Oscar’s day will be about getting him up to speed and familiar with the car.”
