Peppermill Shepparton was the sponsor for the Privilege Cup at Shepparton which was won by Paul Berg with 39 points off a 21 handicap. In A-grade, John Keller was two over on the front nine and square on the back for 38 points off a four handicap while Anthony Devine was runner-up with 37 points and John Dickinson was runner-up in B-grade with 37.Michael Downs won NTP on the third hole (Lewis Homes sponsor), Ty Guiney won on the sixth (Tatura Post Office), Geoff Coolahan on the ninth (Tatura Engineering) and Joe De Ieso on the 14th (A-1 Freight).In the ball run-down, Graham Meneilly had 37, Col Saunders, Alex Howson, Dave Cornwall, Richard Ballantyne, Glen Pearce and John Fanning 36, Bob Hunter, Jono Kerrins, Darren Carter, Jacob Chessels, Dan Miller and Steve Allison 35, Dave Roberts 34 on count-back.
Joyce Baird won the women’s competition with 40 points off a 22 handicap, Niki Miller was runner-up with 38 while Heather Long and Judy Baker won consolation balls. Sue Turnbull won NTP on the third hole, Judy Baker won on the sixth, Heather Long won the jackpot and NTP on the ninth, and Sheryl Curran won on the 14th.
MID-WEEK: Garry Reese won Tuesday’s stableford round with 39 points while Jeff Baker was runner-up with 37. Clive Merrigan won NTP and consolation balls went to Alex Howson 35, Ron Popple and Michel Downs 33 on countback. Steve Allison continued his successful comeback with another win on Thursday. He scored 38 stableford points off a nine handicap and James Ibbotson was runner-up with 36 on a count-back. Ray Flett won NTP and line-balls went to Jeff Perry 36, Bob Wildes 34 and Michael Downs 33.
MAT LANGLEY TWILIGHT: There was an additional sponsor on Thursday when Dale Clarke provided a barbecue as well as the balls for the run-down for the feared cross-country event when hitting over trees becomes an essential skill. Norm Elliot won with a nett 28.5, Jack Mark was runner-up with 29.5 and Robyn Butler had the best women’s score of 36. NTP trophies went to Rob Montgomery on the first hole, Ash Blake on the fifth, Alex Bell and Gail Wootton on the seventh, and Peter Fiddes on the ninth. Line-balls went to Col Saunders 31, Tanz Dellar and Charles Lawson 32.5, Alex Bell and Peter Fiddes 33.5, Jono Kerrins and Noel Gorrill 34, John Dellar, Jody Webber, Ash Blake and Ty Guiney 34.5.
COMING EVENTS: Thursday’s medley fourball Stableford will be sponsored by Bob Hunter. There will be a shotgun start at 10 am and entries may be made online. Saturday’s competition will be for the March monthly medal while the previous 12 winners will play for the Star Medalist Trophy. A qualifying round for the Golf Victoria fourball championship will be played on Sunday with winners for men, women and mixed able to play-off at Sorrento and the National GC mid-March.
