Nagambie 46 d
Tallygaroopna 20
Nagambie co-coach Sarah Sanderson described her side's 26-goal demolition of Tallygaroopna as its best performance of the season.
The 46-20 win on Saturday has moved Nagambie back up into third position on the Kyabram District League ladder.
The round 17 effort followed a disappointing loss to Dookie United in round 15, but Sanderson was pleased with how her fully fit side responded.
"I felt it was our most complete performance of the season and for the first time we had all nine players available, which was nice to have," Sanderson said.
"It was a great boost for our confidence, especially after the previous round loss to Dookie."
After a tense and even opening quarter, the Lakers were able to gain the upper hand through slow movement with the ball.
"The first term was really even, neither side capitalised on their chances," Sanderson said.
"But after half-time we were really patient in our ball movement.
"We just took our time with the ball and slowly built our lead, we never felt like we held a dominant advantage."
Defender Madeline Moore led the way for the Lakers, while shooter Sharni Lloyd caused havoc for Tallygaroopna's defenders.
"Madeline was superb in defence, she's had an up and down year having been thrown from goals to defence," Sanderson said.
"But each week she is improving her game and she's gaining plenty of confidence.
"Sharni Lloyd played a strong game in attack for us, she hardly missed a shot all day."
Across the league, Merrigum looks certain to feature in its first finals series since 2015 after defeating Murchison-Toolamba in an electric 48-46 contest.
With a high percentage next to its name, Merrigum will almost certainly secure a top six spot when it receives four points for the bye next weekend.
Meanwhile, Shepparton East kept its faint finals hopes alive by defeating Undera 43-40 at Central Park Reserve.
The Eagles need to clinch a big win against Murchison-Toolamba on Saturday to have any hope of clawing back Merrigum's percentage.
Elsewhere, Rushworth defeated Longwood 41-33 and Dookie United was too strong for Avenel 79-31.
Lancaster was far too strong for Ardmona, running out 79-4 winners.
