Mid-season recruit Billy Barnes is set to take over from Tucker next year as a playing coach.
Tucker, in his third season as coach, has decided to step down from the role due to family and work commitments.
Girgarre is the second Kyabram District League club this week to announce a new leader for next year, following Shepparton East's signing of Duane Hueston on Sunday.
Barnes was on Geelong's VFL list in 2016 and joined Girgarre in April, where he has kicked 21 goals from 11 games.
Kangaroos president Brendan Nicholson said he was rapt to have Barnes as coach for next season.
"He's played under well-credentialed coaches and has played football at a really high level," Nicholson said.
"He brings plenty of experience and he's going to be great for the whole playing group."
Nicholson thanked Tucker for his contribution across the past three seasons.
"Shannon has done a great job for us and we thank him for everything over the past three seasons," he said.
"He is one of the most hardest working coaches I've been involved with.
"In the past month he's taken on a new job and has found it hard to juggle work and coaching commitments.
"The club totally understands and respects his decision."
Nicholson also revealed Barnes' father-in-law Wayne Deledio, the father of Kyabram's AFL gun Brett, would be assisting the new coach next season.
Wayne Deledio, 63, played one VFL game for Carlton in 1975.
Next year is shaping up to be a significant season for the Kangaroos, as the club approaches its centenary celebration.
"It's a really important year for the club and we feel Billy is the right step in the right direction," Nicholson said.
