The Lakers have now strung together two wins in a row — after suffering a loss to Tallygaroopna in round two — and sit back inside the top-six four points behind the leader after four rounds of the season.
The first half of football was a stalemate to say the least, with only four goals kicked between the two sides — Girgarre holding a seven-point advantage at the main break.
Nagambie flew out after half-time and kicked nine goals to two in the second half to record a 10.12 (72) to 5.3 (33) win.
Anthony Haysom was a clear standout for the Lakers, with the playing coach kicking three majors alongside Ben Hutton (three) and Girgarre’s Will Barnes and Ryan Butler (three goals) were the best for the Roos.
Shepparton East enjoyed a nice return to the winners’ list with a 103-point win against Rushworth at Ironbark Stadium on Saturday.
The Eagles’ Anthony Tautala kicked a bag of eight goals and Jake Pfeiffer booted four in the 22.14 (146) to 6.7 (43) win.
At Violet Town Recreation Reserve Undera wrestled aside a plucky Towners outfit to run out a 52-point winner to remain in the top-two on the ladder.
Undera ruckman Danni Heazlewood (three goals) and ball-magnet Kaine Herbert (two goals) starred for the Lions, while the Towners’ Jayden Guppy (two goals) was a clear standout for the home side in the 17.18 (120) to 10.8 (68) loss.
Elsewhere, Lancaster recorded a 66-point win against Longwood, thanks to three goals each to Jack Donnell and Nathan Torney.
Donnell and Torney were brilliant for the Wombats, but Nick Ryan was best afield for the home side and Longwood’s Lachlan Cox backed up his strong performance the previous week to be the Redlegs’ best.
The reigning premier had 18 individual goal-kickers in its 240-point win against Ardmona, with Tallygaroopna’s Josh Wellington (two goals) and Kane Handley (six goals) starring for the home side.
Ardmona’s Isaac Handy kicked two majors, but it was all Tallygaroopna on the day, as the ladder-leader recorded a 39.27 (261) to 3.3 (21) win.
In the final game, Stanhope flexed its muscles against Merrigum to seal a 35-point win.
Merrigum’s Jake Ross and Josh Smith (three goals) were the top performers in their side’s 13.13 (91) to 8.8 (56) loss.
